What makes this motherboard so good?

Well , it has a “bunch” of great features that allow overclocking without any problem. I think that the only reason why someone might not buy this motherboard is that it’s X399. It was designed for the best ryzen 7 2700x processors to be exact. However, the best ryzen 9 5900x will work just fine with this motherboard. Let me explain why.

The best Ryzen 9 processors are not too different from then best ryzen 7 counterparts in terms of compatibility. They both use x399 chipsets so you don’t need to worry about them not being compatible. Also, the best Ryzen 9 processor has 40 PCIe lanes (the best ryzen 7 has only 16). This allows many things like multiple GPU’s or other devices that require more than 16 lanes to work in the best pc configuration.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme is the motherboard that everyone will be talking about for a while. This motherboard truly does have everything you could ever imagine wanting or needing on a pc motherboard, not to mention it’s definitely one of the more visually pleasing X570 boards out there!

The X570 Aorus Xtreme currently retails at $499 on Amazon  as of 5/10/19. It is extremely expensive but being so expensive has caused people to go absolutely crazy looking for them in stock online and in-stores. The board comes with 2x heatsink fans preinstalled (one RGB LED fan, one plain black fan). One issue which Gigabyte has yet to clarify is whether this board comes with a front facing HDMI port (several YouTube reviewers and buyers have reported they weren’t able to find one on their X570 Aorus Xtreme). Another issue is that some X570 Aorus Xtreme owners have been reporting that their motherboard’s audio just starts cutting out for no reason. Gigabyte has yet to comment as far as I know as to why this is happening, but it seems like a very important thing for them to address as soon as possible.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme does come with WiFi support via an Intel 9560 wireless card which supports 2.4Gbps transfer rates and 1.73Gbps max speeds. This wireless network card is PCIe 3.0 x1 compatible and also supports Bluetooth 5.0. X570 Aorus Xtreme does not come with built-in Wifi of any kind (for those wondering since some X570 motherboards do). However, there is an optional PCIe x1 card available for X570 Aorus Xtreme owners to buy if they need wireless capabilities on their motherboard. If you are planning on buying the X570 Aorus Xtreme for video editing or rendering purposes, Gigbyte X570 Aorus Xtreme’s rear panel has 4x extra USB 3.0 ports and 2 extra USB2.0 ports which can be extremely useful in these types of situations!

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme utilizes 7 power phases with high-quality components for the X570 chipset (digital low loss inductors, 4x 60 amp chokes, 2x 100uf/450V high-quality Japanese capacitors). X570 Aorus Xtreme is pretty much the most power-hungry X570 motherboard out there. X570 Aorus Xtreme can use up to 128GB of DDR4 ram with speeds of up to 3600Mhz which is astounding considering the fact that this motherboard is designed for Ryzen 3000 processors.

The downside to all this power usage however is that X570 Aorus Xtreme does not come with an internal power supply unit (PSU) so you will need to buy one yourself in order to use the board. Some people have reported Gigabyte’s warranty replacement boards failing pretty quickly in the past (months/a year at most) so I would be wary of getting X570 Aorus Xtreme. If you are really interested in this board make sure to do thorough research on it prior to making a purchase; don’t let X570 Aorus Xtreme’s amazing price or specs fool you when you could potentially save up for an X570 board like the ones made by ASUS instead (which are also very good quality).

It’s here! The motherboard is finally here and it brings a lot of new features and improvements that we’ve been waiting for.

This motherboard has 7 PCIe x16 slots, one less than the X399 motherboard. The main difference introduced in these motherboards is the way power is provided to your motherboard components. MSI introduces two 12v connectors (one 8-pin and one 6-pin) on each motherboard instead of an 8+4 pin connector like on older boards. It seems like this is becoming standard though as ASUS did this on their Crosshair VIII motherboard too.

MSI claims it is the motherboard designed for the new AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation. The motherboard also seems to have a lot of other improvements so I’ve listed them below:

Asus Prime X570-Pro

This motherboard has components that are susceptible to ESD damage which may permanently break your motherboard if improperly handled. When putting screws in, make sure they are snug but not too tight as to risk damaging the motherboard when screwing them all the way down. Finally, I recommend using an anti-static cleaning kit to wipe off dust before you handle any of the motherboard with your hands and/or use compressed air to blow away dust instead of just hitting it with a can of air. You do not want to introduce more dust into your computer than necessary as this is bad for cooling fans and may cause overheating issues.

The motherboard itself is well protected and should be fine unless it is handled roughly. This motherboard doesn’t have flashy LEDs or other features that would put stress on the motherboard making it more susceptible to damage during transportation.

The motherboard has an onboard Type-C USB 3.1 Port, 4x rear USB 3 headers, 1x front header, 2x internal USB 2 headers(one for motherboard Front Panel and one for ROG extension), 1x audio front panel header, 1x TPM Module Header, 1x W_FLOW Header (for 5V PWM fan control), 8x SATA III 6Gb/s ports with additional 4 shared SATA III 6Gb/s ports via invisible connector between two of these SATA III ports giving you a total of 12 SATA III 6Gb/s ports, 1x M.2_1 Socket 3(with PCIe X4 lanes and SATA III 6Gb/s), and 1x M.2_2 Socket 3 (with PCIE X4 lanes and SATA III 6Gb/s) .

You will need to configure the motherboard before doing anything else: Set the motherboard BIOS switch to position 2 for easy access to the other motherboard BIOS file in case yours becomes corrupt or unusable Enable MemOK! (this is required for memory compatibility; I recommend keeping this enabled even after you install Windows 10 as it may help with bad memory) There are more things that can be configured but those two are the only ones that should be done during initial motherboard configuration.(and if your BIOS version is older than the latest version you can update it but I recommend doing that in a separate article)

The motherboard’s BIOS/UEFI is one of many components that come with this motherboard. There are two ways to access the BIOS: motherboard switch motherboard POST screen

Both of these will take you to UEFI mode so if you want to access BIOS mode, there is a motherboard switch above the PCI-E slot(closest to the bottom right corner) which needs to be switched from X-Mode(which boots up in UEFI mode) to EZ-Mode (which boots up in BIOS/ Legacy Mode). To enter the motherboard POST screen and view its settings, you need both an HDMI monitor and a USB keyboard plugged into it. On a side note, motherboard POST screens have a bad reputation for being annoying and difficult to get rid of so if you want to get into the UEFI/BIOS without a motherboard switch or motherboard POST screen, there is a bootable USB image file provided by ASUS which can be booted from an external drive using a USB device.(This is useful when you need to flash BIOS updates)
